A common technique for troubleshooting mail delivery issues in MDaemon is to open the various log files (SMTP-In, SMTP-Out, Routing, etc.) with Notepad and do a search for a piece of identifying information about the session you’re trying to find, such as an email address or message subject. This method works well for most people, but there’s an easier way. MDaemon includes a tool called Queue & Statistics Manager, which you can access via the Queues menu in MDaemon. One use of this tool is to view the contents of mail folders and queues. Double-clicking on a message inside a folder opens it up in Notepad so that you can view its headers. Another use of this tool is to analyze the MDaemon logs. For example, if you import the MDaemon-SMTP(in).log or the MDaemon-all.log file, Queue & Statistics Manager will scan the contents of that file, and create a clickable list of each session found in the log. When you click on the session, Queue & Statics Manager will display the protocol dialog for that session only. This allows administrators to pinpoint exactly what they are looking for without having to scan an entire log file in Notepad or another text editor. There’s also a Report feature that can be used to save a copy of the MDaemon configuration report, which can then be sent to technical support for additional information when submitting a support ticket. The below tutorial video provides a demonstration of this tool.
